Rangers Charity Foundation Launches Supporters Club Partnership with the Baku Bears

The Baku Bears Rangers Supporters Club (BBRSC) in Azerbaijan has become the Rangers Charity Foundation’s first ever Supporters Club Official Partner.

The Baku Bears have pledged to support the Foundation and the exciting new projects recently announced for this season with The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and UNICEF.

The Baku Bears have a wide range of regular fundraising initiatives already in place and have committed to making the Rangers Charity Foundation the main beneficiary of these activities. In the last year alone, they have donated over £23,000 towards various causes, including £13,000 to the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund and over £6,000 to Poppy Scotland was raised in the Clansman bar during matchdays and following a charity auction night.

Club Spokesman Derek Clarkson said, “We are very excited about this alliance with the Rangers Charity Foundation which we understand is the first of its kind. We are extremely confident that our partnership will strengthen and enhance our charitable work in the UK and elsewhere.”

Connal Cochrane, Manager of the Rangers Charity Foundation commented, “We are delighted to announce the Baku Bears as our first Supporters Club Official Partner and we hope other supporters clubs will also be interested in following suit and forming this kind of alliance with the Foundation.

“In the past, we have received a great many valuable and regular donations from different supporters clubs, as well as support for our various events and initiatives, and the Foundation continues to thrive thanks to the backing it receives from fans everywhere.

“The Baku Bears have a strong charitable spirit, as do so many of our fans, and they have approached our new partnership with a huge amount of enthusiasm.  I can’t thank Derek and the other members enough for their support.  The Foundation relies on this type of commitment to help make the inspirational projects we are funding a reality.”

The Baku Bears have already got the partnership underway by making their first donation of £500 and also supporting the Foundation’s limited edition pink kit (pictured above are some of the lady members of the BBRSC and bar staff from the Clansman Bar in Baku, where the BBRSC meet, on the day of their recent Poppy Scotland fundraiser, resplendent in their pink RCF tops!)  Pink shirts are still available to buy from the Rangers Megastore and online at sportsdirect.com. Members have also recently raised an additional £400 for the Foundation by selling RCF pin badges.
