Baku Bears Weekly Update 11th December 15

11 Dec

Hello Hello
It was a free weekend last week after the postponement of the Raith Rovers game due to Storm Bawbag 2 passing over Scotland and dropping loads of water !! This game has now been rescheduled for Tuesday 2nd February.

This weekends game see us at home to Morton tomorrow ( Saturday) with a 7pm kick aff Baku Time. Game as always shown in the Bear Pit.

There have been a couple of rescheduled games for next year due to Telly coverage :
The game against Morton scheduled for Saturday the 23rd January is now to be played on Monday 25th January with a 11.45 kick off Baku Time , game against Queen of the South scheduled for Saturday 20th February is now to be played on Sunday 21st February with an 8pm kick off Baku Time.

As your probably aware the action that Sports Direct took against Dave King for committal to prison over breaching the gagging order was heard at the High court in London yesterday this was dismissed although the case was adjourned until today ( Friday) to discuss the terms of the injunction which may well be extended.

Some sad news overnight as reports are coming in that Arnold Peralta has been murdered in his home country of Honduras. Arnold played 21 times for Rangers between 2013 & 2015.

Don’t forget to pick up your Festive Season raffle tickets, it is expected that each member will take 10 books for selling. Prize list will be distributed in the near future.

There was the Members meeting on Tuesday evening with a total of 6 people attending.

To all members who are returning home to their families in the next week or so for the Festive Season the Club would like to wish you a very Merry Blue Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Members meeting tonight

8 Dec

Hello Hello
Just a wee reminder that there will be a members meeting tonight at 7pm in the Bear Pit.
Hope to see as many members there.

Baku Bears Weekly Update 4th December 2015

4 Dec

Hello Hello
It was successful week with firstly a nice 4 – 0 win at home to St Mirren in the Challenge Cup. We now meet Peterheid in the final.
Unfortunately the telly beside the ‘Coffin Dodgers’ started to play up last week which affected the sound quality. A new telly has been purchased and fitted.

Tuesday night saw us winning 4 – 0 in the league game at home against Dumbarton opening up the 3 point gap again over HIV’s.

This weekend’s game is away to Raith Rovers tomorrow ( Saturday 5th December) with a 7pm kick off Baku Time, as always will be shown in the Bear Pit.

There will be a members meeting this coming Tuesday (8th December) at 7pm in the Bear Pit, looking for a good turn out of members.

Don’t forget to pick up your Festive Season raffle tickets and we are always looking for prize donations from individuals or companies.

The recent Poppy Appeal collection in the Clansman raised a fantastic amount of 700 AZN. Many thanks to all who contributed to a very worthwhile charity.

Finally I have it on good understanding that David Cameron, the British PM, has been making enquiries about the availability of our President ,Andy Townsley, as his new speech writer after Andy’s ‘rousing’ 4 hr speech after last weeks game.
I am not quite sure that the British government will be able to afford all the vodka that would be required !!!!!!!

Baku Bears Weekly Update 25th November 2015

A disappointing result last weekend saw Rangers draw 1-1 against Livingstone despite having 69% of the possession. We remain top of the league although only on goal difference from Hibs

This weekends game sees us playing St Mirren at home in the Petrofac Cup semi-final. Game is this Saturday 28th November with a 4.15pm kick off Baku time, match as always will be shown in the Bear Pit via RTV

Saturday night saw the Baku Bears being awarded the Julie Wales Special Recognition award from Walter Smith at the Rangers Charity Foundation annual Ball in the Glasgow Hilton.
This is a fantastic award for our club and a great achievement showing the hard work that we put into raising money for charity. A couple of photos are attached.

Baku Bears Weekly Update 30th October

30 Oct

Hello Hello
It was another hard fought game last Sunday, with the Queens 11 eventually running out 1 nil winners away at St Mirren.
We remain 8 points clear at the top of the table.

This weekends game is on Sunday where we travel to Embra to play HIV’s. Kick aff is 4.30 and as always the game will be shown in the Bear Pit.

The Clansman will be holding their yearly Halloween party this Saturday night from 8pm till very late. Hope to see the members supporting this event which is always a good laugh.

There is also poppies available for sale in the Clansman with proceeds going to Poppy Scotland. Last year the Clansman raised 500 quid which was matched by the Baku Bears, lets see if we can beat that amount this year for a very worthwhile charity.

We are looking at changing the club logo for the start of next season, if any of you have any ideas of what you would like to see on the logo let me know so we can hopefully have a few possibilities.

Lastly, it’s George Stewart’s last weekend in Baku and despite always having the pish ripped out of him it’s been a pleasure to see him back in Country and hope that he will return again to see us.

Baku Bears weekly update 22nd October 15

22 Oct

Hello Hello
Another week another 2 hard fought games, firstly a 2-1 against Queen of the South last Saturday in the league at Ibrox and then a 1-0 win in the Quarter finals of the Petrofac Cup on Tuesday night. We now face St Mirren in the semi finals of the Petrofac Cup.

There is a lot of controversy with the remarks made by Mark Burchill (ex smelly mob) on Radio Clyde last night –
" Kieron Gibbons is a young, talented Scottish footballer who has signed for a Scottish club. Nathan Oduwa footballer who has not signed for a Scottish Club. So we are dragging someone over the coals who is one of our own, who is a player who could possibly play for Scotland in the future"
Quite unbelievable remarks but hardly suprising given the level of hatred shown against our club by all realms of Scottish football.

The next 2 weeks sees the return of Sunday football for Rangers.
This weeks game we are away to St Mirren with a 16.30 kick off Baku Time and next week we face the HIV’s also with a 16.30 kick off. Both games will be shown in the Bear Pit

The club have just received a new order of the ever popular club wallets. Form an orderly queue !!!

As intimated last week, the largest ever peacetime evacuation has started from Baku. Previous evacuation from Dunkirk in 1940 was code named ‘Operation Dynamo’ and this one is code named ‘Operation George the ex Doorman’. Our President has taken the lead on the evacuation and departed on Tuesday closely followed by the Treasurer and it is hoped that the evacuation will be complete by the time the BA flight arrives this evening. Remember if you see George loitering with intent please, please do not approach him. The club are taking every possible measure available to ensure we are all safe !!!!

Just a word of warning to members, we have been informed that the peaceful times that have reigned over the past month or so in the Bear Pit will be shattered with the reappearance of George ‘ex doorman’ Stewart on 22nd October.

This weeks game sees 2nd placed Falkirk coming to Ibrox tomorrow ( Saturday 3rd October). Game as always will be shown in the Bear Pit with a 7pm kick off Baku time.

This week the club made a 10,150 GBP donation to the Rangers Charity Foundation via our Just giving page. This brings the club’s donations to a total of 30,000 GBP which is a fantastic achievement.

Baku Bears Update 19th August 2015

19 Aug

Hello hello
It was another impressive team performance on Sunday at Alloa with a 5-1 win taking us to the top of the league. Much was made about the ‘showboating’ by our new loan signing Nathan Oduwa, FFS isn’t that the type of skills we want to see on a weekly basis ?

Tonight we play Ayr United in the 2nd round of the Petrofac Cup with a 23.45 kick off Baku time. The game is being shown on RTV.

This weekend’s game sees us playing HIVs at Ibrox on Sunday with a 4.30pm kick off, I am sure that Stubbs will be afforded a warm welcome.
Game will be shown in the Bear Pit.

Just a reminder if you haven’t booked your tickets for the Keys and Gray event on 4th September please do so asap. Can also confirm that the guest MC for the evening will be Donald Findlay QC (visa permitting).

Can all members who have paid their dues for this coming season please send me an updated photo as I will update the website. The photos we have on file are old, in fact some of them show people still having hair !!!!
Also let you know that if you have a facebook account the club has their own page, look for Baku Bears RSC.

Rangers yesterday confirmed the season loan signings of 19 year old Nathan Oduwa, an attacker and Dominic Ball, a defender, from Spurs.

Presidents thanks, AGM and first game this Saturday

23 Jul

Dear Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members for supporting the Baku Bears Supporters Club over the past season although the football that we have all been subjected to watch during the season has been pretty dire to say the least the club has still been well supported. I would also like to thank the committee members for all the hard work that they have put in over the season in organizing the various events that we as a club have done. Once again the club this season has raised a healthy amount of money for charity which will be divided up and allocated to the various charities of your choice at the next members meeting.

A special thanks to Colin Gunn for all the work that he has put in organizing the Key’s and Gray sportsman dinner this has took months of work behind the scenes in try to get this organized to suit all parties well done Colin. On that note please remember that the fore mention dinner is on the 4th of September 2015 and if you have not contacted Colin regarding tickets please do so quickly so you don’t miss out on what should be a great night. As I’m sure you are all well aware our season starts this Saturday at 4.30pm Baku time with a cup game against the Hibs at Easter road which should be interesting. The AGM will be held at 4 o’clock before the game so please make the effort to come along and participate in voting in the new committee.

The Club during the close season has been going through a bit of a revamp and we are hoping it will be complete for the opening game so come down and enjoy your club and hopefully a better standard of football with the new regime that has been put in place at Ibrox.

WATP.

Regards

Andy Townsley
