Baku Bears

Baku Bears center was established in partnership with GWARP to provide immediate shelter to Azerbaijani brown bears that were rescued from illegal private keepings. Our center is dedicated to providing the best possible care for the bears and ensuring that they are living in a safe environment. Today, Baku Bears is home to 15 bears, and is actively working to expand their enclosure and develop bear management and enrichment practices that will improve their quality of life.

Bear well-being and enrichment program

Our bear well-being and enrichment program was carried out in partnership with FOUR PAWS International. During the program, the FOUR PAWS team provided medical examination and treatment, as well as surgical operations including birth control measures. The team also provided knowledge and expertise training to our staff in bear enrichment strategies that will help improve the quality of life of our bears, reduce their stress, and stimulate them through activities that mimic those they typically experience in the wild.
