Baku Bears Weekly Update 17th September 15

17 Sep

Hello Hello
Another week another 3 points in the bag with a 3 – 0 win against Livingston.
We sit top of the league 5 points clear of 2nd placed Falkirk who have a game in hand.

This weekend’s game sees us travelling to Dumbarton on Saturday with a 7pm kick off Baku Time. The game will be shown in the Bear Pit via RTV.
Tuesday will see us entertain St Johnstone in the League Cup, game kicks off at 23.15 and is shown live on BBC Scotland.

There was the monthly members meeting on Tuesday as communicated last week and it was disappointing to see only 1 member apart from the committee attending.

The photos from the Keys and Gray event have been uploaded to the website. You can download the photos you want by simply right clicking on the photo and going to Save Picture as

We have been contacted by the Dubai loyal who will be organising a golfing and dinner weekend event in February . John Gilligan, Rangers Director, and Bobby Tait, the referee, will be attending.
Provisional Schedule is :

Thursday 18th Feb – “PM” tee off on The Jumeriah Estates Fire Course for Dubai Loyal Rangers Golf Day, Texas Scramble format so all can play and we will be inviting our Brethren from Bahrain and Baku to join us, evening event TBA.

Friday 19th Feb – Brunch in Dubai – an “institutional event” with members and ladies.

Saturday 20th Feb – Possible golf on Earth Course (if available) with committee members in the morning, 7pm Rangers game (away to QOTS), nearer the time this may of course be moved for TV and we will amend the schedule to suit.

If any of the members are interested in attending either the dinner or playing golf then please let me know.

The weekly update wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the undeniable fact we already knew, there is a bad smell surrounding a certain football stadium in the East End of Glasgow, though I am informed that the cleaning agent Ajax will be used tonight to good effect !!!!!
